please take the following steps immediately:  

The best approach is to first drain all the diesel, refill with new engine oil, drain it again, refill with engine oil, start the generator set, 

drain the oil once more, and then refill with new engine oil. This should resolve most issues. 

However, the safest method is to replace the oil filter with a new one to ensure reliability.
