Over time, various issues may arise during the operation of diesel engines, one of which is insufficient power.
Inadequate power in diesel generator sets can have significant impacts. Here are some common causes for analysis:
Ⅰ. Issues Related to the Fuel System
1. Insufficient fuel supply from the injection pump: Inspect promptly, readjust the fuel supply pump's delivery
volume, and replace any aged or damaged components.
2. Poor atomization or insufficient injection pressure from the fuel injector: Leakage or poor atomization caused
by damaged related parts can easily lead to cylinder misfiring and reduced engine power. Clean, recondition, or
replace the fuel injector promptly.
3. Air ingress or blockages in the fuel filter or fuel lines: This can result in restricted fuel flow, reduced power, and
even difficulties in ignition. Remove air from the fuel lines, clean the diesel filter element, and replace the fuel filter
element if necessary.
Ⅱ. Faults in the Intake and Exhaust Systems
1. Exhaust pipe blockage or excessively long connecting pipes, with too small bend radii and too many bends: This
increases exhaust backpressure. Remove any contaminants inside the exhaust pipe, replace the exhaust connecting pipes,
ensure no more than three bends, and provide a sufficiently large exhaust cross-sectional area.
2. Air filter blockage: Long-term lack of replacement or cleaning can increase airflow resistance, reduce air volume,
and lead to insufficient engine power. Clean the air filter element or remove dust from the paper filter element as required,
and replace the filter element if necessary.
