A diesel generator set is a power generation equipment that uses diesel as the primary fuel. 

It employs a diesel engine as the prime mover to drive the generator, converting kinetic energy into electrical and thermal energy. 

The complete diesel generator set mainly consists of three parts:  

1. Diesel engine.  

2. Generator.  

3. Controller.  

More specifically, it includes components such as the base, diesel engine, base-mounted fuel tank, generator, controller, radiator, and silent canopy. 

Based on different regional needs, generator sets are categorized into stationary and movable trailer types. 

To reduce the noise generated by the generator sets and minimize their impact on people's work and daily life, 

designers have developed silent canopy-equipped generator sets. This involves installing a metal enclosure around the generator set, 

lined with sound-absorbing materials, to shield it on all sides. The enclosure is equipped with doors on both sides for 

easy maintenance and control of the generator set. The silent canopy not only significantly reduces the noise emitted by 

the generator set but also allows it to be placed outdoors. The enclosure functions like a small house, providing protection against sunlight and rain, 

eliminating the need for a dedicated engine room.  

Diesel generator sets are divided into prime power generator sets and standby power generator sets, 

with corresponding prime power and standby power ratings. 

The standard prime power rating of each generator set is typically 80% of its standby power rating.  

The relationship between prime power and standby power is as follows: For example, if a user requires a 100kW diesel generator set, 

the prime power of a standby 100kW diesel generator set would be 100kW × 80% = 80kW. 

In other words, the prime power of a standby 100kW diesel generator set is 80kW. If a silent canopy is installed on the diesel generator set, 

the power output of the generator set will further decrease, typically by about 10%. Therefore, when users purchase a diesel generator set, 

they should consider the power reduction associated with the silent canopy.
