Thank you for choosing Longhong diesel generator sets! Only through correct operation and proper maintenance can
the unit achieve safe and reliable performance. Before operating the unit, please read the relevant manuals, maintenance guidelines,
and other documents included with the equipment to gain a comprehensive understanding of its operation and upkeep.
The operator of the generator set must take responsibility for its care during use. The following are rules that the operator should adhere to,
ensuring the generator set provides optimal service. During operation, particularly within the first 100 working hours,
the operator must follow the guidelines below to maximize the lifespan of the generator set.
Operation Guidelines
- Keep the generator set operating within 75% of its load capacity as much as possible.
- Avoid prolonged idling or operating at maximum power for more than 5 minutes.
- Develop the habit of closely monitoring the generator set's gauges during operation. Immediately reduce the load
if the oil temperature reaches 121°C or the coolant temperature exceeds 88°C.
- During the break-in period, check the oil level every 10 hours.
- The fuel for the generator set must be domestically produced "0" or "-10" grade light diesel oil that meets
the performance standards of the national standard (GB252).
- Use the recommended engine oil (15W/40 CD, CE, CF, CH, etc.).
- After starting, allow the engine to warm up at idle or under 1000 r/min until the main oil passage pressure stabilizes.
- If the engine fails to start within 30 seconds of continuous cranking, wait two minutes before attempting to start again.
- After starting, allow the engine to idle for 3–5 minutes. Once the diesel engine starts, it takes time to re-establish the oil
film between the crankshaft and bearings, as well as between the pistons and cylinder liners. The optimal clearance between
moving parts is achieved only when the engine reaches a certain temperature. Therefore, avoid applying high power, high torque,
or high RPM immediately after startup to prevent piston seizing or dry friction in the bearings.
- Before shutting down, unload the generator and let it run without load for 1–2 minutes, followed by idling for 3–5 minutes.
This allows the lubricating oil to dissipate heat from the combustion chamber, bearings, oil seals, etc. Especially for turbochargers,
sudden shutdowns can significantly increase the risk of bearing or oil seal seizure.
- If any abnormal conditions are detected during operation, stop the generator set immediately for inspection.
Examples include sudden drops in oil pressure or unusual noises.
- For standby generator sets, start and run the engine at least once a month (for about half an hour).
- Before each startup, check the engine oil level, coolant level, etc.
- The battery of the standby unit should be regularly charged, and its fluid level should be checked.
- Never remove the battery while the generator set is running.
